Sūrah Falaq

Presented here is the commentary of the Sūrah Falaq, the second last sūrah of the Holy Qur’ān, as penned by Amīn Ahsan Islāhī.

Determining the Addressees and the Addressors

One of the critical factors to assimilate the Qur’ānic text is to appreciate the address – who is being addressed by whom. Since most of the difficulties encountered in text deciphering emanate from identification of the addressor and the addressee, this is an area where students of the Qur’ān really need to excel. Hamīd Uddīn Farāhi, the celebrated exegete of the Holy Qur’ān, has delineated some indicators in this short exposition which, if absorbed properly, would provide immense help in tracing the direction of address in the Holy Qur’ān.

The Signs and Events of the Day of Judgement

The Day of Resurrection is bound to come though no one knows exactly when this crucial event is going to take place. Nonetheless, the Holy Qur’ān and the Hadīth literature both guide us as to some landmarks that, when sighted, approximate the advent of Doomsday. In the above captioned article, Jāved Ahmad Ghāmidī has elaborated these landmarks.

Shahādah: Witnessing of the Truth

The author has attempted to capture in this article the concept of “shahādah” and its implications as encapsulated by Jāved Ahmad Ghāmidī in his seminal work on Islam – Mīzān.
