Belief in the Hereafter

The belief that gives real meaning to this life is faith in the afterlife. The Almighty raised a series of prophets and messengers only to remind mankind of the accountability in this life to come; His scriptures, besides providing some guidance about the correct way of life, meant to fulfil the same purpose. Given the finality of the Holy Qur’ān, it is the pinnacle of divine discourse ever revealed to evoke the Hereafter. Jāved Ahmad Ghāmidī, in this short exposition, inks a very insightful study of this discourse on belief in the Hereafter.

Qurayshite Descent: A Condition for the Khalīfah

It is held, on the basis of some traditions, that political leadership of Muslims can only be assumed by someone belonging to the tribe of the Quraysh. This viewpoint, if correct, contradicts the fundamental principle of Islam that no one is superior to others on grounds of caste and race. In this essay, Amīn Ahsan Islāhī revisits those traditions to assess whether they really convey the purported understanding or if some other implication has been indicated by the Holy Prophet (sws).
